Company Details
This website, and the organisation behind it, was born out of a series of conversations over coffee between Gordon Pape and Frank Carpenter and has been nurtured over three years of research and planning.
As individuals we enjoy being in the sun. Gordon enjoys the beaches of the Canary Islands, Frank enjoys the wide open spaces of hills and mountains.
As an organisation, we are concerned about the rise in skin problems associated with tanning in particular, but also sunbathing in general, largely due to common misunderstandings about the nature and effects - both positive and negative - of the sun's rays on the human body, especially the skin.
The aim and function of Safe Sunbathers Ltd is to simplify and draw together the research based practical advice available all over the web, as well as to provide certain practical help to the sunbathing community, particularly of Northern European stock, on the sunniest beaches in the world.
As we are concerned with the effect on humans of environmental change so we are concerned about the effect on the environment of human practices. We pride ourselves in doing our bit for the environment.
Our products and methods of delivery are evaluated for their environmental impact,
our computing power has also been used to aid the BBC climate change experiment,
our waste paper is shredded and composted, we print with recycled paper and card where possible,
our printer cartridges are sent to recycling centres,
and we use the smallest vans that we can.
We are grateful to the following individuals for their particular help and support:
